Like A Villain & The Early - Split

Like A Villain & The Early - Split

Genre: Avant-Garde
Format: mp3 | CBR320kbps
Country: USA
Size: 88 Mb

Tracklist:
01. Like A Villain - Mystics Vs. Skesis Conjunction of the Three Suns Revival
02. Like A Villain- I Love You Pikachu
03. Like A Villain - For Reasons Still Unknown
04. The Early - Nome
05. The Early - John Brown

Description: You might have already heard of Like a Villain, if you like musical explorations through last.fm. This is a project of Holland Andrews from Portland, Oregon, creating "ethereal melodies of melancholy and strangeness". Her music is an experimental mix of instrumental melodies and singing, sometimes hypnotic, sometimes very emotional, and at the same time quite innovative. Call it avant-garde or post-whatever, or just enjoy the tracks. Having previously released two albums, Like a Villain now decided to collaborate with another project from Portland, The Early, for a split album, released by Friends For Life Records. The Early is a full-band of two guitarists and a drummer producing experimental semi-improvisational (or even fully improvisational) instrumental madness. I would call it post-rock, and hopefully this doesn't create the clichéd image of this genre in your head. Anyways, both parts of the split are united by the main idea of experiments in music, and surprisingly this is a very good, enjoyable record, that makes you want to re-listen it over again.

09. Terrarium
10.Sam Spade

Description: Just got a request of posting Subterrestrial latest album. Not exactly my cup of tea, but you may check the description by artist and give it a try. Have a nice exploration!
"Echotron" is a unique mix of deep ambient soundscapes and retro lounge/exotica tracks featuring analog synths and drum machines. The tracks are arranged like an LP with the ambient material on "Side A" while "Side B" features the more beat-oriented tracks. Depending on your musical interests you're bound to enjoy at least one side of this "virtual LP," maybe both?

Format: mp3 | CBR320kbps
Country: USA
Size: 63 Mb

Tracklist:
01.
Anywhere But Here (feat. Laura Fisher)

08. Regionalterations

Description: trip-hop, downtempo and near genres are quite rare guests on Hidden Vibes, and today is the day to change it. Willow Talk is a brand new collaborative effort featuring New York City's Laura Fisher and Philadelphia's Anders Lindfors. The two have come together to create a new and refreshing take on trip-hop/downtempo music. With a live set-up in the works and new music, 2012 looks to be a positive year. This is recommended to listen, if you like music of Bonobo and Massive Attack. Having not much to say, because Trials/Tribulations is not exactly my cup of tea, but I think it is good for the right ears. Check it out using following links:

Rø - Sound of Space EP

Rø - Sound of Space EP

Genre: Space Ambient/Drone Ambient
Format: mp3 | CBR320kbps
Country: USA
Size: 29 Mb

Tracklist:
01. Continuum
02. Etendue
03. Gascend

Description: surprisingly good ambient project with a conceptual Sound of Space EP, released in June, 2011. 3 tracks of quality space sound. Talking about space ambient projects, the main distinctive feature of their worthiness should be the ability of creating spacey visions in listeners' minds. Lots of musicians who produce such kind of music do not fill it with sense, and it remains just a collection of pads. But 's minimal sound really does carry you away to outer galaxies. The other positive thing is successful choice of tracks length. Not too long to get bored of listening, yet long enough to make you feel the atmosphere. This EP is totally worthy checking out for all the space wanderers.

Worrytrain - sparrow happenings (cassette rip)

Worrytrain - sparrow happenings (cassette rip)

Genre: Ambient/Acoustic/Minimalism
Format: mp3 | CBR128kbps
Country: USA
Size: 24 Mb

Tracklist:
01. having it and losing it on a sinking ship
02. looking and finding it on many shores
03. holding it and loving it as the world passes by
04. setting it free on private property
05. remember it in a pissy alleyway at the end of it all

Description: all of you guys possibly have already heard about Worrytrain, one-man project that is pretty much popular among neoclassics and ambient lovers. The fact is that posted album (or EP, whatever) is way lesser listened, because it represents the very early period of Worrytrains music, where he haven't developed his sound from experimental acoustic ambient to the blend of modern classics and noise. That is definitely the reason to consider Sparrow Happenings a hidden gem. It's amazing how he creates the special relaxing mood on this record using that necessary minimalistic sound of his instruments and combining it with field recordings. Sometimes monotonously hypnotic, sometimes hopefully bright. A sound that can be found on thousands of records and at the same time cannot be found anywhere else. Recommended.

C'est la Mort - Empty Words Fill Lonely Spaces

C'est la Mort - Empty Words Fill Lonely Spaces

Genre: Post-Punk/Shoegaze/Dream Pop
Country: USA

Tracklist:
01. No Time to Say Goodbye
02. Among the Ruins
03. Paper Ships
04. Nothing Ever Lasts
05. Bridge of Sighs
06. Drown Out
07. Bled
08. Stand Fast
09. Final Call
10. Closing Credits

Description: Drawing from post-punk, shoegaze, dream pop and darkwave, C’est la Mort excavate corners of prized record collections and secret histories to create an atmospheric and angular dream-pop soundscape. Dark and driving, they take cues from 4AD, the Chameleons, Cocteau Twins, Lush, Blonde Redhead, Colin Newman, and the Comsat Angels, while also reconfiguring their influences into something new.

Vocalist Kim House’s melodic drive on her Rickenbacker bass propels every song from start to inevitable powerful conclusion while Geoff Cox and Greg Forschler create walls and sinews of guitars that would make Robin Guthrie proud. Garrett Croxon anchors it all and pushes forward with an intricate post-punk jazz swing. Kim’s ethereal vocals float over the dreamy, lush soundscape (c).

01. Peisinoë
02. The Empress
03. The Golden Dawn
04. Anthemusa
05. Ghostwood
06. Little Birds
07.  Shimmerine
 08. Amethyst
09. Three Jewels
10. Night Never Ends
11. Cimaruta
12. The Death of Lovers

Description: Golden Gardens is the duo located in the city of Utopia and producing dreamscapes and anthems for magical minds. At least this is what their official Facebook page say. In fact this is a music duo that recently released their first longplay just in vein of their first Somnambulist EP. According to the words of musicians themselves, their music takes influences from music boxes and icicles; raindrops against a window pane; books being opened and closed at the library; submerging oneself in the bathtub; dry leaves being crushed underfoot; grey skies; summery fields; crashing waves and puddles in the forest. And the whole bunch of various artists, such as Slowdive, Cranes, Akira Yamaoka, Bohren And Der Club of Gore, Massive Attack, Portishead, Bauhaus, My Bloody Valentine and a lot of others.
Between the Siren and the Amulet is an album of perfectly produced warm shoegaze music. Starting with a droning ambient introduction, this album presents dreamy guitar based music and even more dreamy and gentle female vocals, that fill you with the atmosphere of complete calmness. Delayed and hazy guitars make songs sound totally soundscapic, ambient. And admitting the crystal beauty of singer's vocals again. A perfect piece of music for dreamers. Anilore - Still Awake

01. Something Always Shines
02. Imagine You
03. More
04. World Ends

06. The Heavy Song
07. Movement
08. Octavia
09. Black Halo
10. Absence
11. DMYH
12. Showers Of Happiness

Description: a great shoegaze record dating back to 1996 and remastered ten years after. The members of Anilore met in 1992 at college. They soon realized that their musical tastes were shaped by the same influences--bands such as Joy Division, the Cocteau Twins, New Order, the Jesus and Mary Chain, My Bloody Valentine, Red House Painters, the Pixies, and Nirvana; artists such as Tom Waits and Nick Cave; and the seminal alternative British labels 4AD and Creation Records. After many years of lineup changes, demos, etc., the band recorded their debut album, Still Awake, in 1996. In 2006, guitarist Andrew Malenda decided to re-master Still Awake (c).
Extremely underrated, considering the fact that Anilore's got only 11K scrobbles @ last.fm at the moment, so it's highly recommended to be checked out. A sample track is here:

Doug Sharp - Boogafoo Music

 Doug Sharp - Boogafoo Music

Genre: Noise/Avant-Garde/Experimental
Format: mp3 | VBR (V0)

Size: 96 Mb

Tracklist:
01. Snus Attack

06. My, My
07. Schveltronia Bimmsler Exudes
08. Zamthrusters Rampant
09. Peodopular Fip Fip (Boogafoo Preview Edition)

Description: while Led Zeppelin were announcing their new label, while 200,000 music fans were attending The California Jam rock festival, while Queen were playing their first North American concert, while AC/DC were performing their first official show with Bon Scott as their new lead singer, back in 1974 Doug Sharp was commiting his crimes against music. A small story by himself will say more than any other words:

In 1974 while I attended St. Olaf’s Paracollege, my best friend Larry Heyl ran the Moog Studio. He taught me how to plug patch cords and fiddle knobs to wring squawks out of the Moog Modular Synthesizer. I was earning a hand-rolled degree in Creative Studies so I added torturing the Moog to my curriculum.

Moog Modular Synthesizer like the one in the St. Olaf Moog Studio

To me the Moog was a machine for making weird noises so I pushed it into uncharted territories of sonic strangeness. I didn’t emulate any musician but indulged in pure sonic experimentation. I taped a handful of tracks and called my album “Babie’s[sic] First Words” Twenty years later my daughter renamed it “Boogafoo Music”, which stuck.

Left: Doug Sharp in ’74 Right: I carried around this 2nd-gen tape for years before digitizing it. No charge for the tape hiss.

So basically this album is a collection of moog tunes, noises or whatever-you-call-it tracks, recorded and carried through years on tape and digitalized after. Notice: this is the weirdest stuff ever been published on this blog and I don't think ever will be again, so catch it right now. Notice number two: 1974. Available at:

mobdividual - Sounds One Hears Is Music

mobdividual - Sounds One Hears Is Music

Genre: Acoustic/Drone/Post-Rock
Format: mp3 | CBR320kbps
Country: USA
Size: 64 Mb

Tracklist:
01. "Life is the leaves which shape and nourish a plant,
02. but art is the flower which embodies its meaning."
03. - Charles Rennie Mackintosh
04. ...sounds one hears is music...

Description: and the very new EP from Brian Elyo also known as mobdividual is out now. Being pretty much a continuation of 'The Windows to () Music Were Open' it brings lots of fresh moments. Having kept the hypnotizing acoustic ambience, due to the use drums it sounds closer to post-rock music. Starting listening to the record you get a perfect introduction from first two tracks, which fully show the atmosphere of the whole record. The third track - Charles Rennie Mackintosh - is being a great and almost epic culmination of the record, while the last one sounds pretty different from others and paints the ending line of the EP.

…kind of like a roller coaster design where i’ve tried to dictate a certain experience but also allow for the individual to take away their own experience… to do that i have to make sure certain ideas aren’t too low or too narrow or your head wont hit the side… ‘you must be so tall to ride’ type-idea… just trying to make sure you can relax and enjoy the ride; hopefully you’ll be free enough to look around, get distracted (this isn’t school, music isn’t life, you don’t have to pay attention…); think about something else, have your own experience…
