Lights Dim - Starlit Corners of Our Homes

Lights Dim - Starlit Corners of Our Homes

Genre: Ambient/Modern Classical
Format: mp3 | CBR320kbps
Country: Poland
Label: Preserved Sound

Tracklist:
01. Plunge
02. Surfacing
03. Cinema Hall
04. Moth
05. Song of Winter
06. Love of Trains
07. Goodbye Lover
08. Stockholm
09. Finally, I...
10. Cold Room
11. Peter Falk
12. Belated Light

Description: after visiting a show of this artist I couldn't help dropping a few words about his music, because it is very expressive, yet minimalistic, as most of ambient is. So, Lights Dim is a solo project of Marek Kamiński (also New Century Classics). Starlit Corners of Our Homes is an album, that has been recorded and mixed in jan/feb 2010 and contains ambient-based compositions with involvement of piano. Probably nothing new to modern classical genre, but this record is not about inventing new things, it is about expressing authors feelings in a very warm, romantic and melancholic way.
Unfortunately, there's no free download option, but you may stream album for free and consider supporting artist by following links:

08. picking grains
09. the spins
10. stay lost

Description: another great discovery in the world of minimalistic music. "Stay Lost" is a collection of ambient instrumentals. These tracks were created through the use of samples, VST synths and reverb-heavy guitars. Love, hope and nostalgia...forever. Basically one more album of minimal ambient sketches, but it has quite an uplifting mood, sometimes very calming. I would compare it to the quiet after, so if you liked that one, you will probably like this too. Promising material, check it out using following links:

Mealann – Der Einsiedler

Mealann – Der Einsiedler

Genre: Ambient/Dark Ambient/Minimalism
Format: mp3 | CBR320kbps
Country: Poland
Size: 112 Mb

Tracklist:
01. Die Stadt
02. Die Leere
03. Die Zeit
04. Die Sonne
05. Der Nebel
06. Der Vogel
07. Der Mond
08. Das Gefängnis

Description: Der Einsiedler is second full-length album of ambient act Mealann from Poland, found in August 2011 by Eija Risen from numerous projects like Risen v0id, Cold Womb Descent, Astral Monolith and few electronic ones. After releasing the debut album and two splits with friends, second full length release combines everything that made this project up to that day.

Album contains eight instrumental tracks, whose titles are nouns in German language. Its sound is an excerpt from perception of a lonely ranger inside, but outside of the big city, searching for traces of beauty beneath overwhelming sadness. Slow and repetitive, yet painstaking pieces of melody in the vein of ambient black metal Burzum releases, reminding of bands like Sieghetnar and Spectral Lore combine open and free atmosphere partially bound by traces of grim thoughts and unstable mood.

02. a grey sun over still lives
03. exit signs

Having no boundaries in the inspiration field, the quiet after is a reflection of authors vision of everyday life, everything that evokes proper emotions to create his sounds. Musically very good ambient, combining piano notes with cinematic soundscapes, a slight reminiscence of musicians listening background, including Mono, Eluvium, Katatonia, July Skies and numerous other artists. Worrytrain - sparrow happenings (cassette rip)

Worrytrain - sparrow happenings (cassette rip)

Genre: Ambient/Acoustic/Minimalism
Format: mp3 | CBR128kbps
Country: USA
Size: 24 Mb

Tracklist:
01. having it and losing it on a sinking ship
02. looking and finding it on many shores
03. holding it and loving it as the world passes by
04. setting it free on private property
05. remember it in a pissy alleyway at the end of it all

Description: all of you guys possibly have already heard about Worrytrain, one-man project that is pretty much popular among neoclassics and ambient lovers. The fact is that posted album (or EP, whatever) is way lesser listened, because it represents the very early period of Worrytrains music, where he haven't developed his sound from experimental acoustic ambient to the blend of modern classics and noise. That is definitely the reason to consider Sparrow Happenings a hidden gem. It's amazing how he creates the special relaxing mood on this record using that necessary minimalistic sound of his instruments and combining it with field recordings. Sometimes monotonously hypnotic, sometimes hopefully bright. A sound that can be found on thousands of records and at the same time cannot be found anywhere else. Recommended.

Crane's Dreams - August Fogs

Crane's Dreams - August Fogs

Genre: Ambient/Minimalism/Atmospheric
Format: mp3 | CBR320kbps
Country: Russia
Size: 80 Mb

Tracklist:
01. Clouds
02. Time
03. Letters In August
04. Disturbing Dream
05. The Distant Sky
06. In Waves
07. Open Spaces
08. Back To The Distant Sky

Description: Crane's Dreams project, combining into one such musical genres as ambient, drone and neoclassics was born in 2011. Roman Barinov, the only member of this band have decided to create something different from what he'd been doing in his metal project called Liveride. Thematic concept of Crane's Dreams music is not only a bright side of Russian landscapes beauty, but also its dark, ghostly side.
Project compositions combine the ambient base with different noises, nature sounds and voices. The influence of neoclassical music can be heard in some tracks as well, when droning noisy sounds are diluted with detached strings and atmopheric pads. Album cover is made by author. By now the discography of the project consists of one release, dating back to the beginning of spring, 2011 (translated from Russian).
Very good atmospheres here, highly recommended for download for lovers of airy uplifting soundscapes.

loaded energy - winterphantasie

loaded energy - winterphantasie

Genre: Ambient/Drone Ambient/Soundscape
Format: mp3 | CBR128kbps
Country: Germany
Size: 35 Mb

Tracklist:
01. winterphantasie

Description: loaded energy is a completely underground drone ambient outfit of Attila Varga, a musician from Germany. So obscure that you can hardly find the album cover arts, and information about the project on any of webpages is very poor. At the same time, project's discography reaches 5 albums, published on last.fm, which is really impressive.
Winterphantasie is a 39 minutes one-track album (or EP whatever), a brilliant work which is a perfect example of what sonic soundscape is. It feels like author has taken a brush and slowly painted a blurry and sleepy winter picture. Progressive and slow hypnosis of the first winter snow, and bleakness, bleakness, bleakness. This is not another sunny day full of shiny white drops. Hypnotic, but in some moments hopeful, this track is nothing else than 39 minutes of pure magic, caught in audio waves. Highly recommended to give it a try. You can find loaded energy music and download it for free/listen it for free using links below:

10. Der Berg
11. Der Turm
12. Das Tor

Description: Der Wanderer is an album by a nature-oriented ambient project Mealann from Poland. A long journey through the forest of gloomy and misty atmospheres. Basically some kind of minimalistic ambient music, but each of the tracks sound very inspiring and mystic at the same time. A good piece of ambient with the great concept is the least to say, this record really creates a very special mood and a soundscape of wandering through the woods and misty fields.

aiRless pRoject - Dopamine Entities

aiRless pRoject - Dopamine Entities

Genre: IDM/Electronic/Ambient
Format: mp3 | CBR320kbps
Country: Macedonia
Size: 70 Mb

Tracklist:
01. you're not my shrink!
02. untitled
03. beauty fades
04. morning of remission
05. a quest for eternal calmness
06. dopamine entities
07. triggering mixed states at random times
08. my entropy is well-deserved

Description: a continuation of a trip to Macedonian undiscovered music will lead you to aiRless pRoject - an electronic music producing one-man band. The album is primarily influenced by everyday events, and inspiration is drawn from my views of the world and the music I listened to in the period of making, that is September 2009 to February 2010. If I had to single out some artists from the bunch, I'd say Aphex Twin, Casino Versus Japan, Kettel and Boy Is Fiction from the electronic music side, and Joy Division, Sonic Youth and Shipping News from the guitar music world.
The music on the album itself could be described as minimalistic, ambient/idm/downtempo-influenced electronica.
A great discovery, totally worthy to give it a try. You can find aiRless pRoject music and download it for free/listen it for free using links below:

Doug Sharp - Boogafoo Music

 Doug Sharp - Boogafoo Music

Genre: Noise/Avant-Garde/Experimental
Format: mp3 | VBR (V0)
Country: USA
Size: 96 Mb

Tracklist:
01. Snus Attack
02. Veluria Ponsonby's Epiphany
03. Wasp Train
04. Gondwanaland
05. Opus #Glork, Move 2
06. My, My
07. Schveltronia Bimmsler Exudes
08. Zamthrusters Rampant
09. Peodopular Fip Fip (Boogafoo Preview Edition)

Description: while Led Zeppelin were announcing their new label, while 200,000 music fans were attending The California Jam rock festival, while Queen were playing their first North American concert, while AC/DC were performing their first official show with Bon Scott as their new lead singer, back in 1974 Doug Sharp was commiting his crimes against music. A small story by himself will say more than any other words:

In 1974 while I attended St. Olaf’s Paracollege, my best friend Larry Heyl ran the Moog Studio. He taught me how to plug patch cords and fiddle knobs to wring squawks out of the Moog Modular Synthesizer. I was earning a hand-rolled degree in Creative Studies so I added torturing the Moog to my curriculum.

Moog Modular Synthesizer like the one in the St. Olaf Moog Studio

To me the Moog was a machine for making weird noises so I pushed it into uncharted territories of sonic strangeness. I didn’t emulate any musician but indulged in pure sonic experimentation. I taped a handful of tracks and called my album “Babie’s[sic] First Words” Twenty years later my daughter renamed it “Boogafoo Music”, which stuck.

Left: Doug Sharp in ’74 Right: I carried around this 2nd-gen tape for years before digitizing it. No charge for the tape hiss.

So basically this album is a collection of moog tunes, noises or whatever-you-call-it tracks, recorded and carried through years on tape and digitalized after. Notice: this is the weirdest stuff ever been published on this blog and I don't think ever will be again, so catch it right now. Notice number two: 1974. Available at:

mobdividual - Sounds One Hears Is Music

mobdividual - Sounds One Hears Is Music

Genre: Acoustic/Drone/Post-Rock
Format: mp3 | CBR320kbps
Country: USA
Size: 64 Mb

Tracklist:
01. "Life is the leaves which shape and nourish a plant,
02. but art is the flower which embodies its meaning."
03. - Charles Rennie Mackintosh
04. ...sounds one hears is music...

Description: and the very new EP from Brian Elyo also known as mobdividual is out now. Being pretty much a continuation of 'The Windows to () Music Were Open' it brings lots of fresh moments. Having kept the hypnotizing acoustic ambience, due to the use drums it sounds closer to post-rock music. Starting listening to the record you get a perfect introduction from first two tracks, which fully show the atmosphere of the whole record. The third track - Charles Rennie Mackintosh - is being a great and almost epic culmination of the record, while the last one sounds pretty different from others and paints the ending line of the EP.

…kind of like a roller coaster design where i’ve tried to dictate a certain experience but also allow for the individual to take away their own experience… to do that i have to make sure certain ideas aren’t too low or too narrow or your head wont hit the side… ‘you must be so tall to ride’ type-idea… just trying to make sure you can relax and enjoy the ride; hopefully you’ll be free enough to look around, get distracted (this isn’t school, music isn’t life, you don’t have to pay attention…); think about something else, have your own experience…

mobdividual (c)

Totally worthy to at least give it a listen. You can find mobdividual music and download it for free/listen it for free using links below:

音一 - 一

音一 - 一

Genre: Noise/Drone/Experimental/Minimalism
Format: mp3 | CBR192kbps
Country: Japan
Size: 38 Mb

Tracklist:
01. 一
02. 二
03. 三
04. 四

Description: probably the most experimental album that have been posted on this blog so far. Under these symbols are four experimental noisy sounds that attract you with their dark atmosphere. A completely new thing to try, if you've been listening to instrumentally based and musically oriented artists. 音一 (a sound) hails originally from Shinjō, Yamagata but is now a permanent resident of the Sendagaya area of Shibuya, Tokyo. Feedback, clicks, glitches, ghostly voices, drones, textures and found sounds are all things which go towards the creation of an 音一 composition, dark and moody vibes with an isolationist bent is what’s going on here. 音一 employs a host of portable looping and sound manipulating instruments in the recording process, often constructing tracks in situ for use in larger compostions back in the studio and even on occasion building fully realised pieces whilst out in the field (c). Totally worthy to listen, if you are already a fan of experimental sounds or just trying to broaden your understanding of what music is. Paint on Silence - Paint on Silence EP

Paint on Silence - Paint on Silence EP

Genre: Post-Rock/Ambient/Electronic
Format: mp3 | CBR320kbps
Country: Greece
Size: 63 Mb

Tracklist:
01. Trampala
02. A music field
03. Rosidae
04. Siberia

Description: Paint on Silence is a post-rock duo from Greece. Started in 2007 this project recorded their first EP three years ago after that. They play pretty much minimalistic post-rock using real and electronic instruments but this is enough to create proper melancholic mood. Taking influences from lots of artists such as Godspeed You Black Emperor!, Yann Tiersen, Explosions In The Sky, Philip Glass, John Frusciante and others, guys synthesized their musical vision into four tracks which are different and similar at the same time. Should be good for post-rock/ambient lovers. Totally worthy to at least give a listen. You can find Paint on Silence music and download it for free/listen it for free using links below:
